Tennessee Technological University

UPDATE: Jerred Griggs, 20, of Sparta was placed under arrest Wednesday evening. Police say Griggs brought the two victims to the campus where they met Brown, who reported he was staying with a student there. He gained access to the residence hall by using a TTU student’s stolen identification card. Brown took one person into the laundry room of Dunn Hall and robbed him there, then tried to rob the other person outside. TTU police say he and Griggs conspired to commit the robbery together. The incident was drug-related.

My brother and I both attended TTU. I can say honestly those were really great years in my life. It was a time of knowledge, not just from books but from living life. Going to college opens so many doors that I had never even thought of. I look back at my time at TTU with appreciation and a smile. So I must say I was truly disheartened to receive this message yesterday morning:

Tennessee Tech University FROM TTUNEWS: Possible armed robbery in Cooper/Dunn Res Hall. Officers are on-scene. Students in Capital Quad remain in room until further notice. Everyone else avoid the area.Wednesday at 7:49am ·

Sadly the first thing that goes through my mind was "Please, let it stop there. Don't let this be like Virgina Tech."

Tennessee Tech University TTUNEWS: Following the report of a possible armed robbery in Cooper/Dunn residence hall this morning, students remain locked down in Capital Quad. No shots have been fired. No injuries have been reported. TTU police are urging everyone to avoid the area around the quad while the search continues. Report any concerns or suspicious activity to campus police at 372-3234.

I was so thankful reading that no shots had been fired and no one was injured. Friends of mine were posting comments wondering if TTU , the place they went to, would still be safe our children. I hope so.

Tennessee Tech University TTUNEWS: University police have a person in custody related to the reported armed robbery this morning in Dunn Hall. The lock down has been lifted from Capital Quad. Wednesday at 8:58am ·

This appears to be a drug deal gone bad. Darrion Jerome Brown, 19 , of Nashville has been arrested. Police claim that Brown met with another person in the laundry room of Dunn Hall to buy drugs and that instead, he made the other person give him “all the money and the drugs.” Now, if this is completely true then I do not have a lot of sympathy for the "victims" either. You want buy/sell illegal drugs, do it at your own house and stay away from schools!!! At least that might decrease the chance of your actions effecting other people's lives. How many students and parents were worried sick over this?? I hope they all go to jail!

Darrion Brown is my son and I think that it is a damn shame that when this alleged robbery took place at TTU his photo was posted all over the News, New Papers and online and the second person that was arrested this Jerred Griggs photo has yet to surface on one damn website or on local news. Now who is really being equal there in Cookeville, TN....

Darrion and Jerred have both been robbing people for months. There are two others as well. Sorry about your son, but I have some great friends that have been done very wrong by them.

Griggs just basically finds the people to screw over, and he gives your son a call and whoever else they run with. I personally know they were involved in a breaking-and-entering case with a friend of mine, and brutally beat his neighbor. Believe it or not, its true and the blood-stains proved it.

This is a rotten shame. I don't know this Brown guy but Jerred was once a good kid. Cocky as heck but a good kid.

Could you elaborate on his other activities??
